although you really are the one

and you wish for yourself to look your very best for them
to look your prettiest for them
and your smile carries all your hope
that they can see it
and maybe fall for it

Have you ever looked at someone’s fingers
and without you even knowing, your heart starts to make a prayer
that one day those fingers can hold yours
every single day
every single second

and all you can say is
“God, how beautiful.”
